[00:00:00] Speaker A: I can't. Coach Grant was trying to get me to give away our game plan on here, and I told him I'm not gonna do that. And so I'm PR trained.
[00:00:08] Speaker B: Man. Why would Coach Grant wanna out you guys like that on here?
[00:00:11] Speaker A: I don't know.
[00:00:23] Speaker B: Hey, Prep Rally. We are here with Steven Schaefer of Bentonville Football. Welcome to the Prep Rally podcast.
[00:00:29] Speaker A: Thank you. Yes, ma'.
[00:00:30] Speaker B: Am. Yeah, well, we'll go ahead and get started and ask, like, it's already middle of the season already, which is insane to me because it feels like yesterday we were at media day and I was having your teammates sing Let It Go.
[00:00:41] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:00:42] Speaker B: From Frozen Crazy.
Yeah. Now that we're here, I mean, just kind of walk me through what this team has learned so far this season.
[00:00:53] Speaker A: Yeah, so we've learned a lot of, like, resilience. I mean, we. Last class that came through here was very talented. They had a bunch of D1 receivers and just a very talented class.
And so hearing all the almost backlash, saying that we're not going to live up to them, we've just had to fight through that and just be resilient and show that we Bentonville Tigers is just a school that's always going to be good, and we have to hold up to that standard.
[00:01:26] Speaker B: Now, I'm not going to go into details about, you know, obviously the biggest game of the year, Shiloh versus Bentonville, but post game, I mean, how did you. How did Coach Grant get you guys kind of back in that mindset of, you know, it's one game, we're going to move past this. I mean, what was practice like that week?
[00:01:43] Speaker A: Yeah, we all knew we had to step up. I mean, it was not a. It was not a very pretty game.
I didn't play personally because I was injured, but it was just. It was mistakes that killed the. Killed it.
And so he just. He just said, we need to pick it up. We need to bounce back. And we played Heritage the next week, and so, yeah, we just had to bounce back.
[00:02:08] Speaker B: And you bounced back personally yourself. I mean, you had over 170 yards in last game. So what did that mean for you to kind of just get back on your feet after sitting out an important game like that?
[00:02:19] Speaker A: Yeah, well, I really just had to hold onto the ball and run as hard as I could, but it was just the O line. The O line was.
Was just amazing. They were phenomenal.
I couldn't have done it without them. And, yeah, I mean, it felt good to get those yards, but it was really the O line that pushed me through.
[00:02:40] Speaker B: Well, I mean, there's only a few more weeks left in football season, so, I mean, who are you looking forward to playing the most? I mean, there's got to be a team that you're like. Actually, I'm excited to go to their stadium and play.
[00:02:51] Speaker A: I'm excited to play West. West. West should be a good game. They have a good team this year, and it's always a good game. It's a really big rivalry, and I know a lot of their players. I like them, but I think it should be a very fun game, and I'm looking forward to it.
[00:03:05] Speaker B: How many. How many yards do you think you're going to stack up in that game?
[00:03:08] Speaker A: Oh, I don't know. I hope Nathan's back so that me and him can. Can tag team it.
[00:03:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:03:14] Speaker A: But I don't know.
As long as the O line plays good, then it should be a fun night.
[00:03:23] Speaker B: And I'm just gonna ask it. Okay. Let's just rip off the band aid. All right. But last few years, it's been interesting in the playoff for Bentonville. You guys are, like, so close.
[00:03:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:03:34] Speaker B: But, you know, obviously, every year is a new season, but I know that there's just. Just that little piece missing.
And so obviously, little piece being the state championship. But what do you guys think that you need to do this year to actually get over that hump?
[00:03:50] Speaker A: I think we just need to be. Just be very disciplined in everything that we do.
It's the small mistakes that get us, and they really get any team. And so if we can eliminate those and have the fewest mistakes as possible would be. We'll be set.
[00:04:06] Speaker B: What do you think some of those small mistakes have been this year?
[00:04:10] Speaker A: It could be missing blocks, missing tackles, just wrong reads or.
Yeah.
Catching the football.
But if we can just remain disciplined, I think we should have a fun, fun playoff run.
[00:04:28] Speaker B: Well, it'll be here before you know it.
[00:04:30] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:04:32] Speaker B: I feel like this year, to give y' all credit, I feel like a lot of teams lost a lot of really good players in the 7A. And so I think each team this year as kind of freshly new.
[00:04:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:43] Speaker B: In a way. Yeah. Have kind of held their own. I think you guys have held your own despite the one loss.
[00:04:49] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:49] Speaker B: In middle of the season. You know, I think that this team still has that toughness caliber. And, you know, you weren't in that one game, you know.
[00:04:59] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:05:00] Speaker B: 170 yards says a difference. 170 yards could have been used in that game.
[00:05:05] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:05:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:05:07] Speaker A: For sure.
[00:05:08] Speaker B: All right, Stephen, we're gonna go into a fun segment.
[00:05:11] Speaker A: Well, all right, let's go.
[00:05:12] Speaker B: Okay. You're excited about it, but we usually have people just being like, oh, no.
[00:05:17] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm ready.
[00:05:19] Speaker B: This is called Win or Fumble.
[00:05:21] Speaker A: Win or Fumble. Okay.
[00:05:22] Speaker B: Yes. Now, we have to do social media reels regardless with you today.
But if you do not tell the truth in Win or Fumble, if you don't answer correctly, you get to do a reel of my choice.
[00:05:35] Speaker A: I'm confused.
[00:05:36] Speaker B: What?
[00:05:37] Speaker A: Wait, Explain it.
[00:05:39] Speaker B: Okay, so win or Fumble, I'm going to ask you a series of questions, and you have to answer them truthfully.
[00:05:44] Speaker A: Okay?
[00:05:44] Speaker B: Okay. And so if you don't answer correctly, you take the fumble. You have to do a social media reel of my choice.
That's not going to be a.
[00:05:53] Speaker A: But if I win, you have to do a social media reel of my choice. No.
[00:05:56] Speaker B: No one's ever asked me that.
[00:05:58] Speaker A: What the crap?
[00:06:00] Speaker B: No.
[00:06:01] Speaker A: So. Okay. All right, I'm ready.
[00:06:03] Speaker B: That is fair, though. I feel like that's a.
[00:06:05] Speaker A: It is fair. Yeah.
[00:06:06] Speaker B: That's a valid response.
[00:06:07] Speaker A: Yeah. Hmm.
[00:06:09] Speaker B: Take control of your pests with West. Whether it's termites, mosquitoes, bed bugs, weeds, or lawn disease, Wes has the experience serving Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma since 2003. Book your free consultation online
[email protected]. after all, Wes knows pest pe.
If you guys make it to the final, then I'll agree to it. I'll shake on that on camera. Okay.
[00:06:34] Speaker A: Shake on it.
[00:06:34] Speaker B: If you guys make it to the final, I'll do the reel of your choice. But obviously it can't be terrible.
[00:06:41] Speaker A: I don't know.
You kind of. You kind of messed up. Garrett on the Elsa singing Let it go.
[00:06:49] Speaker B: Actually, that was his choice because I had a bunch of stuff in a bucket, and he picked it for his entire team.
[00:06:54] Speaker A: Okay, maybe I'll do that for you.
[00:06:56] Speaker B: What?
[00:06:58] Speaker A: Pick it.
[00:06:59] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.
Okay.
Would you rather try to block your defensive tackle in open space or let the kicker give you a blindside hit?
[00:07:13] Speaker A: Let the kicker give me a blindside hit.
[00:07:15] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:15] Speaker A: Porter Fertig.
No, definitely let Porter give me a blindside.
[00:07:20] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:07:21] Speaker A: I talk a lot of trash to Porter. Jokingly, and I like him a lot, but trash talk?
[00:07:26] Speaker B: What are you telling him?
[00:07:27] Speaker A: Well, in the beginning of the season, I was punning a little bit, but not anymore. And so I would tell him he's the backup.
And so.
Yeah.
[00:07:39] Speaker B: What is this motivational speech?
[00:07:40] Speaker A: Yeah, but I talk a lot of trash. But I would rather take a blind side from Porter does.
[00:07:46] Speaker B: He does. Is this feeling mutual after that?
[00:07:49] Speaker A: A little bit. A little bit.
[00:07:51] Speaker B: Okay.
Okay. Would you rather drop a wide open walk in touchdown on national TV or have your quarterback catch you completely missing a block on film study?
[00:08:06] Speaker A: Quarterback catching me for sure.
[00:08:08] Speaker B: Really?
[00:08:08] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:08:10] Speaker B: What?
[00:08:10] Speaker A: Dropping a wide open touchdown pass on national television?
[00:08:14] Speaker B: Yeah, but it's like, you know, sometimes those happen, you just shake them off.
[00:08:19] Speaker A: Yeah, but then it's just Evan just like, Steven, you gotta make that block, right?
[00:08:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:08:24] Speaker A: Mad at me?
[00:08:26] Speaker B: He's getting mad at you. Like, he's like in your face.
[00:08:29] Speaker A: Yeah, it's just Evan.
[00:08:33] Speaker B: I mean, I didn't say it was like the game winning touchdown on national tv. I mean, people drop passes.
[00:08:38] Speaker A: Okay, if we were up by a lot, then maybe I wouldn't really care as much. Yeah, but if it's like crucial state championship.
[00:08:46] Speaker B: See how these questions can get. You never said that.
[00:08:51] Speaker A: All right?
[00:08:51] Speaker B: Even Derrick McFadden dropped passes. Okay.
[00:08:53] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:08:54] Speaker B: Everyone does it.
Okay. Would you rather play a whole game in wet socks? Ugh. Or have to wear your rival team's jersey to every press conference?
Which I'm assuming press conference meaning, like, media days?
[00:09:11] Speaker A: Um, probably. Wet socks.
[00:09:15] Speaker B: Wet socks? Really?
[00:09:16] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:09:17] Speaker B: You guys play in below freezing temperatures?
[00:09:19] Speaker A: I mean, I just feel like it'd be weird to wear, say, Bentonville West's jersey to an interview or whatnot.
[00:09:25] Speaker B: Like a media day.
[00:09:26] Speaker A: Yeah, I feel like that'd be.
That would probably catch some people off guard.
Like, I thought that guy played for Bentonville if he was wearing a West jersey.
[00:09:35] Speaker B: Well, it's.
[00:09:36] Speaker A: Or would it be just like a lost bet kind of deal?
[00:09:38] Speaker B: Nah, I mean, like, you would be like, answering like, for Bentonville, but wearing Bentonville.
[00:09:43] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I definitely wear wet socks.
[00:09:45] Speaker B: I mean, if it makes you feel any better, I'm not a reporter, so I don't know most of yalls names when y' all show up, so I really wouldn't know a difference.
[00:09:52] Speaker A: True, true.
[00:09:53] Speaker B: So if that gives you any. Yeah, yeah. But wet socks, I mean, you could get pneumonia.
[00:09:58] Speaker A: Could you?
[00:09:59] Speaker B: Yeah. If you're playing in below freezing, like,
[00:10:02] Speaker A: weather, yeah, that would be rough.
But I wouldn't wear a jersey of the opposing team even if the reporter
[00:10:09] Speaker B: didn't know you didn't play for that team.
[00:10:13] Speaker A: Well, then I'd just be answering questions for the. I mean, that would be kind of funny if I was answering questions for the other team.
[00:10:18] Speaker B: Actually.
[00:10:20] Speaker A: Yeah. Maybe I just. I could butcher some questions.
[00:10:23] Speaker B: Yeah, just.
[00:10:24] Speaker A: Just give them the wrong answers for the.
[00:10:27] Speaker B: This should be a fantasy punishment.
[00:10:28] Speaker A: It Should.
[00:10:29] Speaker B: Yeah.
I don't know if you have a league with your teammates, but that should be a punishment.
[00:10:33] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I don't have a league with my teammates. I have some league with my friends.
[00:10:37] Speaker B: But yeah, it would literally be like, you get your biggest rival and if whoever loses, like, oh, this is a good one for your teammates, actually. If only you did one, but you could literally do that. It's like the loser has to wear and has to post. Like, I love this team.
They're my team forever, for sure. I'm giving everyone ideas out there.
[00:10:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:58] Speaker B: I actually have some of the best fantasy punishments ever.
[00:11:01] Speaker A: Really?
[00:11:01] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, one of them is like, you know, hobby horsing. No, it's like where you have stick.
[00:11:06] Speaker A: Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. That's. That's just.
[00:11:09] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. It's a sign up for a hobby horse competition.
[00:11:14] Speaker A: Yeah. Mine is. Our punishment, I think, is doing stand up comedy at like a. Like a show.
[00:11:20] Speaker B: No way.
[00:11:20] Speaker A: And you have to. Yeah, you have to stay up there for like five minutes.
[00:11:23] Speaker B: Are you losing?
[00:11:24] Speaker A: I'm currently like one in five, so. Or one in six, so.
[00:11:29] Speaker B: Tell us some jokes right here on the spot.
Stephen Schaefer.
[00:11:32] Speaker A: Guys, I've actually been practicing, so. I used to be addicted to the hokey pokey.
I turned myself around.
All right, another one, another one.
Let's see.
Why did the orange lose the race?
Lose the race?
[00:11:56] Speaker B: Why?
[00:11:56] Speaker A: Steven ran out of juice.
[00:12:00] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:12:02] Speaker A: There you go.
[00:12:04] Speaker B: Wow, look at that. Steven Schaefer, his very own comedy show. We got to see that up close and personal.
[00:12:10] Speaker A: Yeah. Hopefully I don't lose though, because those aren't very good jokes.
[00:12:13] Speaker B: But I think the first one was pretty good.
[00:12:15] Speaker A: Yeah, I like the ones where they're smooth. Yeah, you can't really tell that it's a joke. Like, another one. I used to be addicted to soap.
I'm all clean now,
[00:12:25] Speaker B: so it's all in the presentation. I think what got me is your face at the end because you were just like, waiting for the laughter and I was like, oh, that's funny.
[00:12:34] Speaker A: Some laughter in there.
[00:12:35] Speaker B: Yeah. Like a Disney show. We will.
[00:12:37] Speaker A: There you go.
[00:12:39] Speaker B: Okay.
Would you rather be trapped on a five hour away game flight? So, like, you're traveling somewhere.
[00:12:48] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:12:49] Speaker B: Like with your team for five hours next to the loudest snore on the team or the guy who listens to his music without headphones?
You gotta say a name.
[00:13:03] Speaker A: The loudest snore. Well, so we. We went to Hays, Kansas, and that was like six, six and a half hours. Oh.
[00:13:09] Speaker B: So this Is. Yeah. So this did happen.
[00:13:11] Speaker A: So this did happen. But I actually left my. My headphones at the.
At the hotel.
[00:13:18] Speaker B: So are you the no headphones?
[00:13:20] Speaker A: I was the no headphones guy, yeah.
[00:13:22] Speaker B: Wow. Gee whiz. This question took a turn.
[00:13:25] Speaker A: Yeah.
So.
[00:13:27] Speaker B: So who was the teammate that was like, I'd rather be next to the loudest snore?
[00:13:31] Speaker A: Well, I had to sit. Me and Evan got.
Evan Knuth sat next to each other.
[00:13:35] Speaker B: Oh.
So he was fine.
[00:13:37] Speaker A: He was fine. He had headphones, so he kind of blocked out my doom scrolling.
[00:13:42] Speaker B: Okay, but if you were in that situation, you didn't have headphones.
[00:13:46] Speaker A: If I was in that situation, the snorer sat next to the left.
[00:13:49] Speaker B: Or it was either the loudest snorer or the guy without the headphones.
[00:13:57] Speaker A: I don't know. No headphones is kinda risky because Mason Burnett, he's a big doom scroll guy.
So he doom scrolls a ton. And one might say he's addicted to doom scrolling. And he doesn't typically wear headphones and he does it full volume and so
[00:14:17] Speaker B: he can he not hear at his age?
[00:14:19] Speaker A: I don't know. He's just an avid doom scroller.
So probably the snore if I'm sitting next to Mason.
[00:14:25] Speaker B: Really?
[00:14:25] Speaker A: If I'm sitting next to Mason because Mason's a big doom scroller.
[00:14:30] Speaker B: Oh, dang. I mean, doom scrolling such like a scary word. But in reality, what is he looking up for six hours cooking videos he likes.
[00:14:38] Speaker A: I don't know. You'll hear a chuckle here and there from Mason.
[00:14:41] Speaker B: But on full volume, right?
[00:14:42] Speaker A: On full volume, yeah.
[00:14:45] Speaker B: Oh, wow.
Next. Next little road trip. I know who you're not sitting next to.
[00:14:50] Speaker A: Yeah, for sure.
[00:14:52] Speaker B: Okay. Would you rather let the rookies, freshman freshmen pick the music for the weight room for a whole season or let the head coach control the ox cord? So coach Grant.
[00:15:05] Speaker A: I kind of feel like coach Grant already does control it.
[00:15:07] Speaker B: Oh, really?
[00:15:08] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't really.
I don't really have preference on music too much whenever I'm working out.
[00:15:12] Speaker B: Does he not like Yalls music? Is that why?
[00:15:15] Speaker A: I don't know. Probably to make it clean so it's all clean music.
[00:15:19] Speaker B: Oh yeah. I didn't even think of that.
[00:15:21] Speaker A: Yeah.
But I really don't have too much of a preference. Probably just coach Grant.
Honestly, I feel like the freshman would probably play some like trolling music. Like just weird.
I don't know.
[00:15:37] Speaker B: I mean, I would just assume they played Disney, you know, Disney.
[00:15:40] Speaker A: True.
[00:15:41] Speaker B: Like the newest Camp Rock came out. I'm sure some of them Are jamming to that. But they won't admit it, though, in the weight room, you know? Yeah, they won't admit it that they're listening to 2007 Jonas Brothers. You know what I'm saying?
[00:15:52] Speaker A: Jonas Brothers are good, though. I like the Jonas Brothers.
[00:15:54] Speaker B: They are. But Camp Rock Jonas Brothers, though.
[00:15:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:15:57] Speaker B: So that's a hit or miss.
[00:15:58] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:15:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:15:59] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:16:00] Speaker B: Judging by your face, you were like, Camp Rock Jonas Brothers.
Okay. Would you rather have to, like, share a hotel room with the messiest guy on the roster or the guy who sets his alarm five times and it's like 4am Messiest guy. Really?
[00:16:19] Speaker A: Yeah, I just step over his stuff.
I don't like waking up early, like, earlier than I have to.
[00:16:25] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:16:25] Speaker A: Like, if I have practice at 6:30, I'm waking up at, like, 6, maybe.
[00:16:31] Speaker B: Oh, we've been to your practice before. I was barely awake at that.
[00:16:35] Speaker A: Yeah, it's hard.
[00:16:36] Speaker B: It's hard.
[00:16:37] Speaker A: But I would not like to have multiple alarms because I wake up pretty easily on alarms, so that would keep me up, man.
[00:16:44] Speaker B: It's tough being in school. I'm just like, how did I even do that at one point?
[00:16:48] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:16:48] Speaker B: Y' all are getting up so early.
[00:16:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:16:51] Speaker B: Okay.
You're doing pretty good so far.
Oh, okay. Would you rather trust the offensive line to plan your birthday party or trust the DBS to style your pre game outfit and they. Then they post it?
[00:17:10] Speaker A: Dbs. Well, I like both of those, actually. Oh, I would trust both of them. I like the O line. They're a bunch of characters, so I think they would have a pretty fun.
Pretty fun birthday party.
[00:17:21] Speaker B: Yeah. But you told them, you can do anything for this birthday party.
[00:17:25] Speaker A: Anything.
[00:17:25] Speaker B: Yeah, so that gives them a lot of creative freedom.
Not like they're looking at you like, what should I throw for my friend? They'd be like, anything.
[00:17:33] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly.
I would still probably choose a birthday party, though.
[00:17:37] Speaker B: Really?
[00:17:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:39] Speaker B: What do you think they'd throw for you?
[00:17:42] Speaker A: We'd probably have a fun day planned out.
We'd probably go.
I don't know, Honestly. They would. They would do something fun, though.
[00:17:53] Speaker B: Plan out a day that sounds like a date.
[00:17:55] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. Me and bunch of alignment. That'd be.
[00:17:59] Speaker B: That's so cute.
[00:18:00] Speaker A: That'd be fun. Yeah.
[00:18:01] Speaker B: Love that bromance.
[00:18:02] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:18:03] Speaker B: Okay. Would you rather have.
Okay, who. Who's, like, randomly. Who's, like, a teammate you just would not trust with fantasy football?
Give me a name.
Yeah,
[00:18:23] Speaker A: Give me Hoyer Benefield.
[00:18:25] Speaker B: Okay, so him.
Would you draft him to. Would you have. Would you rather Draft him to your fantasy football team or let him cook you dinner for every night this week.
[00:18:42] Speaker A: Let him. He's not gonna be a good cook. Yeah, Hoyer's not gonna be a good.
[00:18:46] Speaker B: I'd one or the other take him
[00:18:48] Speaker A: on my fantasy team.
[00:18:49] Speaker B: Really?
[00:18:49] Speaker A: Yeah. He's not. I can't see Hoyer being a very good cook.
[00:18:55] Speaker B: I mean, doesn't say it has to be good. He just has to cook every night.
[00:18:59] Speaker A: Yeah, it would probably be like, go to Walmart, get something to warm up
[00:19:03] Speaker B: and then, hey, Walmart Classic rotisserie chicken is pretty good.
[00:19:07] Speaker A: It is good.
[00:19:08] Speaker B: You can do, you can do a lot with that.
[00:19:09] Speaker A: You can.
[00:19:10] Speaker B: Yeah. You know, he might do that in a side salad. Who knows? He might surprise you. Go up to him and be like, hey, man, if we.
[00:19:17] Speaker A: What are you making me?
[00:19:18] Speaker B: Yeah, what are you making me? Yeah, he'll be so confused. He will actually do that today.
[00:19:23] Speaker A: I'll ask him today.
[00:19:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:19:25] Speaker A: No context. And then once he sees the video, he'll.
[00:19:27] Speaker B: If you. You should video that for us.
[00:19:29] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:19:30] Speaker B: Just to see. Hey, I will. Hey, man, what are you cooking me for dinner?
Just gonna be so lost.
[00:19:35] Speaker A: Yeah. And I'll make him give me an answer bet. Alright.
[00:19:39] Speaker B: Okay.
Would you rather.
Well, I'm like, I don't know if I should ask this. I feel like you're very equipped to this answer. You feel like you know your playbook?
[00:19:50] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah, I feel like I do.
[00:19:52] Speaker B: I didn't sound very confident for the most part. I was like, your voice got so high pitched, it was like, yes, yes.
Okay. Would you rather lose your playbook the night before a big game or have your team group chat leaked to the public?
I think I know the answer to this.
[00:20:12] Speaker A: I'll probably lose my playbook.
[00:20:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:20:14] Speaker A: I mean, I would obviously have my wonders on what could have been. Yeah. What we're gonna be playing. But I mean, what if the other team has your playbook now you're kinda.
[00:20:27] Speaker B: Okay, but what if this is your playbook for the state championship game?
[00:20:33] Speaker A: I would have to have a hard conversation with coach Washington, the offensive coordinator. I'd say, I lost my playbook.
Can I have a new one? And I would probably get in trouble, but you know.
[00:20:44] Speaker B: But what if you can't get a new one? He's like, son, we don't have no more.
[00:20:49] Speaker A: I guess I'm screwed.
[00:20:50] Speaker B: Yeah, well, but then you could pick the leak of the group chat and
[00:20:55] Speaker A: then we lose the game.
[00:20:56] Speaker B: What do you mean you lose the
[00:20:57] Speaker A: game because the other team has our playbook.
[00:20:59] Speaker B: Is that what you all talk about on your group chat?
[00:21:04] Speaker A: Oh, I guess I'm confused then. Wait, so wait, the other team gets the playbook?
[00:21:09] Speaker B: No, you lose your own playbook.
It's.
Would you rather lose your playbook before the night of the state championship game or have your. Have your team's group chat leaked?
[00:21:24] Speaker A: Teams. Oh, there's no playbook. There's no playbook involved in the team's group chat?
[00:21:30] Speaker B: No,
[00:21:33] Speaker A: probably the team's group chat.
[00:21:36] Speaker B: Teams group chat? Really?
[00:21:37] Speaker A: It's a pretty chill group chat.
[00:21:39] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:21:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:21:40] Speaker B: What is it just like, hey, man, what are we eating today?
[00:21:44] Speaker A: Sometimes. Yes, there's some of that there.
Sometimes there's just, like, people showing what they're doing, just hanging around, you know?
[00:21:56] Speaker B: That sounds. No offense, but that sounds like a really boring group.
[00:21:59] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm PR trained.
[00:22:01] Speaker B: Oh.
[00:22:01] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:22:02] Speaker B: I mean, I could tell with some of those early answers.
[00:22:04] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:22:05] Speaker B: I was like, is he gonna give me a little more depth than that?
[00:22:07] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm PR trained.
[00:22:09] Speaker B: How'd you get PR trained?
[00:22:11] Speaker A: You know?
Well, I was born at a very young age,
[00:22:18] Speaker B: as anyone is.
[00:22:19] Speaker A: Yeah. And, you know, it's really about it. I got PR trained.
[00:22:23] Speaker B: Yeah. Do you think it's because, like, there's a lot of media that comes to visit the school and you just kind of see it?
[00:22:29] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm just Ready.
[00:22:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:31] Speaker A: Ready. I can't. Coach Grant was trying to get me to give away our game plan on here, and I told him I'm not going to do that. And so I'm PR trained, man.
[00:22:40] Speaker B: Why would Coach Grant want to out you guys like that on here?
[00:22:43] Speaker A: I don't know.
[00:22:44] Speaker B: Maybe he just wanted to show that, like, you know, you guys got a good game plan?
[00:22:47] Speaker A: Yeah, maybe. Yeah.
[00:22:49] Speaker B: Way to go. To take initiative and say no against the big boss.
[00:22:53] Speaker A: For sure.
[00:22:54] Speaker B: How do you feel about that? Knowing he'll see that.
[00:22:57] Speaker A: Knowing he'll see that.
He'll be like, schaefer, you did the right thing, Coach Grant.
Yep.
[00:23:09] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay, last question.
[00:23:12] Speaker A: All right.
I think I'm 100% so far.
[00:23:15] Speaker B: You are, because I gave you. Would you rather I didn't give you questions where you had to explain?
[00:23:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:23:21] Speaker B: But now I'm gonna give you one that you have to explain.
[00:23:23] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:23:24] Speaker B: Okay.
If you could tell anything to your quarterback. Okay.
Anything to your quarterback at all, but it has to be on a mic in the middle of the field.
But it has to be a form of correction, what would you say?
[00:23:47] Speaker A: A form. I would just. Evan, lock in that probably even most. I say, honestly, I Don't know. I don't know. I don't really like to.
I wouldn't probably say anything.
[00:23:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:23:59] Speaker A: If he's messing up, he's probably in his own head, and he doesn't need me in there as well.
[00:24:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:24:03] Speaker A: So if I had to say anything, Evan, let's go walk in or something like that.
[00:24:09] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:24:09] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:24:10] Speaker B: Okay. Well, actually, no, I have another question because I want to see this.
If you had to pick somebody to add to your comedy show, which you may or may not be losing that fantasy bet, who would it be as your. As your sidekick?
[00:24:28] Speaker A: This is honestly pretty easy.
[00:24:29] Speaker B: Would it be. No. I'm gonna give you options.
[00:24:32] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness.
[00:24:32] Speaker B: Yeah. You only get two options. Would it be Evan or Coach Grant?
[00:24:36] Speaker A: Evan or Coach Grant?
[00:24:37] Speaker B: Yeah.
Which I've seen Evan try to crack comedic jokes. It was interesting.
[00:24:43] Speaker A: Yeah. He's not Coach Grant. Give me Coach Grant.
But if I had to choose my own. Can I say that?
[00:24:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:24:51] Speaker A: Jeremiah Chavis.
[00:24:52] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:24:53] Speaker A: That dude's a character. His corner. I mean, he is.
He's ridiculous.
[00:24:59] Speaker B: Well, now he knows. So if you lose, he has to do it, too. Obligation.
[00:25:03] Speaker A: Let's go.
[00:25:04] Speaker B: Yeah. See, Aren't you glad you said that out on here? So now if you. If you lose the fantasy, you. Obligation. It's already on air, so.
[00:25:12] Speaker A: Has to make me food.
[00:25:14] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:25:14] Speaker A: Jeremiah has to come do the comedy show with me. So.
[00:25:17] Speaker B: Yeah. Coach Grant has to give you praise for not giving away the playbook.
[00:25:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:25:21] Speaker B: You did so many great things today that I'm sure your teammates are going to be so happy with.
Well, Steven, thanks for joining us today on the podcast.
[00:25:30] Speaker A: You're welcome.
[00:25:31] Speaker B: Yeah. And I've never said this out loud before, but I feel like it's necessary. Go Tigers.
[00:25:36] Speaker A: Go, Tigers.
[00:25:36] Speaker B: Tigers, let's go.
